Laura T. Garza is Executive Artistic Director and Co-Founder of Teatro Audaz San Antonio as well as a theatre educator in San Antonio, Texas.  

Teatro Audaz (founded in 2016) is dedicated to exploring the varied experiences and cultures of Latinx people through producing and showcasing the creative talents of Latinx / Chicanx artists while making teatro that is accessible to All audiences with a focus on those under-served by the arts. Teatro Audaz will primarily be known for artistic excellence and the representation of Latinx/Chicanx, LGBTQ+, women, and all BIPOC artists.

Laura received her MFA in Directing from Texas State University her BA in Theatre Arts from the University of Incarnate Word, and an AA in Drama from San Antonio College. Laura trained with the Royal Shakespeare Company at the Birthplace Trust in Stratford-upon Avon, and has also trained with The Oregon Shakespeare Festival as part of a Directing Intensive.

Laura is a three time ATAC award winning actor and director.  She has directed at The Public Theater of San Antonio (Aye, No!),  Texas State University (Reasons to be pretty, Hurricane Season), Wimberley Players Theatre (Canterville Ghost; The Musical), The Palace Theatre (Hurricane Season, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland), The Overtime Theatre (Portmanteaux), and The Kennedy Center Washington D.C. (MFA Playwright Festival, Asst. Director). Other honors include the 2010 Kennedy Center ACTF Merit Award for directing and sound design Reasons to be Pretty, and the 2011 Kennedy Center ACTF Directing award and National Finalist for directing scenes from Angels in America: Perestroika.
