In the ever-important navigation of diversity and inclusion in our theatre spaces, where do body politics belong in the discussion? Is body size a diversity thing? How do fat theatremakers feel about their place in the universe of stock costumes, traditional casting practices, and fatphobia? This workshop is exactly what you want it to be–whether that be a good, old-fashioned bitch session, high-falutin' academic discourse, or somewhere in between! Participants will delve into real talk about fat bodies on stage, personal body biases concerning character “believability”, and the exploration of ideas about how to activate hesitant advocacy for body diversity in theatre. We'll take all of the questions, concerns, topics from Part 1, and dig deeper in Part 2!
