Dismantling Power Structures in Directing

Log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Feedback form is now closed.
Directing is a position steeped in complex power dynamics—dynamics that are often based in patriarchal, colonial, racist, misogynistic, and ableist patterns. There is power in naming these so that we can recognize where and how they are present and so that we can take them apart.
We don’t have to direct—or cast, or collaborate—the way it’s “always” been done.

It is our responsibility to make changes so that the old systems are not perpetuated.

Join us for this panel discussion including directors from around the US who are questioning, disrupting, and building new practices. Panelists include Jessica Wu, Deena Selenow, Aurelia Belfield, and more!
