In the wake of the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements, the field of theatrical intimacy direction boomed under the leadership of organizations such as Intimacy Directors International and Theatrical Intimacy Education. As this focus continues to grow in the world of professional theatre, the academy is poised to incorporate this work into its rehearsal rooms and curriculum. This panel, comprised of female faculty and staff, seeks to discuss best practices of directing stage intimacy while acknowledging and reframing traditional power dynamics in the classroom and rehearsal space to prioritize student safety and consent.
