Courtney Vollmer graduated with a Bachelor's in Theatre from Longwood University (2011) and after a brief stint living abroad, returned to Richmond, VA to pursue her passion for Theatre Education. As an adjunct faculty teacher for SPARC, she taught for 5 years in their in-school, after-school, and summer programs before transitioning to a full-time Resident Faculty position as LIVE ART Program Manager and teaching artist. At SPARC, Courtney traveled across the country to create performances, appearing on the Today Show and the 50th anniversary of the Special Olympics concert feat. Chance, Usher, Francis and the Lights, Smokey Robinson, and Jason Mraz. Simultaneously, she managed the LIVE ART program at SPARC, culminating in a concert performance event featuring famous world-renown artists, actors, musicians, and over 200 neurodiverse and typically developed student performers. All the while, she continued her own education by taking American Sign Language courses and attending education conferences around the nation in Austin, San Fransisco, Lexington, Richmond, and more. After 10 years at SPARC, Courtney began her journey teaching for Richmond Public Schools as the Theatre teacher at Albert Hill Middle School. Courtney has dedicated her life to inclusive performing arts education and works hard every day to foster a safe and inclusive learning environment both on stage and off.
