Cameron Wade is a Registered Drama Therapist (RDT), Therapeutic Theatre practitioner, art-based researcher, trainer, educator and performer originally from Durham, NC. She holds a Master's degree from NYU's graduate program in drama therapy and is a native of Durham, NC. For over two years she served as a Creative/Expressive Arts Therapist at Cherry Hospital making theatre with folks living with schizophrenia and other SPMI, folks in addiction treatment and recovering from trauma. She currently serves as drama therapist in residence for RhinoLeap productions, a professional theatre company based in Asheboro, NC and as a drama therapy consultant for Playmakers Repertory Company and the Department of Dramatic Art at UNC-Chapel Hill. Cameron's work in the educational sector includes working as US Program Manager, curriculum developer and trainer for Move This World, a global non-profit  based in New York City that provided training for teachers and school leaders in creative, trauma-informed strategies for social-emotional management and learning in their communities. Her research in Therapeutic Theatre as an integrative intervention for families living with the trauma of addiction and survivors of sexual trauma is published in the Drama Therapy Review, editions 4.1 and 6.2, and can be accessed online through ingentaconnect.com. Additionally, she had the honor of providing clinical consultation and post-performance processing for the off-Broadway production of Occupied Territories, a play that investigated the intergenerational impacts of combat trauma on veterans and their families and has facilitated Therapeutic Theatre performances of the piece integrating Vietnam veterans, their family members and professional theatre artists. Cameron is a passionate co-creator of opportunities for healing, growth and learning with groups and individuals through art, action and authentic relationship.
